Caption on album page: Overnight camp at Cow Wells, Indian Wells Valley, 1908 [date crossed out and replaced with 1909]. See the lizzard [lizard] on the canvas and Yokoum has a snake he just killed for the kids and Mrs. Lally's benefit. 2 miners--Mrs. Margery Lally and Madeleine and Chauncey, Yokoum teamster, "Rock and Rowdy" and mules Pat and Mike.
Written in pencil on reverse: Mrs. Lally and two children Chauncey 7 and Madeleine 9 [ages crossed out and replaced with 6 and 8] on way to camp to cook. Camped at Cow Well, Indian Wells Valley 1908 [crossed out and replaced with Jan. 1909]. Yokoum holding sname (teamster), 2 men on left miners.

THis picture was selected from the album by CHarles Shelton, November 20, 1961 for the "Photo Album of Yesterday's Southwest" published by Desert Magazine, Palm Desert, California and compiled by him. "Camping Memories" -- our team and wagon, four animals. Mrs. Lally and the children, Madeliene, 6 yrs. and Chauncey, 8 yrs., were coming up to camp to cook for us, 1909-1910.
