Description

Photo of a young girl (Elizabeth L. Mecham) on horseback with the Millspaugh mill and one other structure in the background. Caption on album page: Our boarding house. "Chenette" and Bess aboard--she bleongs to me! 1907. Written on reverse: Bess L. Fowzer, Millspaugh, Inyo Co., Calif. 1907 Sept. Chenette. My very own horse! Bought and paid for by the sweat of my brow--literally! Packing wood on jacks all summer. Grandma Marshall died July 4, 1907. Everyone loved her and how we miss her. SImon Campbell said she made the best apple (dried) pies and cokies he ever ate. I traded my handmade Spanish bit for this fancy coin silver bit--very latest--but did not like it so traded back to Al for my own. Never stand a horse downhill to have picture taken!
