B/w photo of a wooden tower structure. Written on front is, "Sta. 2 Elev. 1,091."
Label says: "Structure No. 2, located about 0.8 mile south of the loading terminal in Saline Valley, was a double tension station. The carrier cables had to be maintained at a constant tension at all times. Because metal expands and contracts with changes of temperature, it was necessary to fasten large boxes filled with rocks to one end of the cables. These boxes were free to rise and fall as the cables expanded and contracted, maintaining a constant tension on the lines."
