Description

Mounted sepia tone photo of Independence street scene predating the 1886 fire. Buildings, businesses, and many men in photo. Signs include "headquarters," "saloon," "restaurant," "J. S. Rothschild & Co.," and "livery stable." Handwritten on reverse in pencil is, "Independence before fire 1886."
