Quote from Vision or Villainy, pg. 170:
Wednesday, November 5, 1913 began as a cool, clear day, ideal for an outing to the northern end of the San Fernando Valley. Four miles north of the city of San Fernando, near what is now Sylmar, a huge trough leading downhill from an aqueduct tunnel would pour Owens River water into storage reservoirs.
