Description

Small bust photograph of James E. Parker, the first Assemblyman for Inyo-Mono Counties. He also was a co-founder of the Inyo Independent newspaper in 1870. There is a list of names on the reverse that may be all his children, who included Bessie P. Stevens. Information from accession paperwork: One of two photographs of J. E. Parker and his wife, Maruca, who came to Independence in 1869. He was one of the founders of the Inyo Independent and was the first assemblyman from this part of the state. The donor is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parker.
