Large wood sign for Kearsarge Station. It is covering (painted over) an older sign for Citrus Station. It also has "To San Francisco 550 3/10 m." and "Elevation 3766 feet" that have been painted over as well.
Inyo Independent article, April 18, 1913: No more will people traveling on the "slim gauge" get off the train at the station opposite Independence and looking up at the sign on the depot "Citrus" wonder were all the oranges are. For the name has been changed to Kearsarge and this week the "Citrus" sign was painted over and a new sign bearing the name of "Kearsarge" substituted. It is well.Collection
