Description

Photo of San Francisquito Power Plant Unit #1 generating hydroelectric power from the aqueduct. The penstock, dropping water into the plant, can be seen in the center of the photo. Unit #1 was placed in service on 03/18/1917 and energy was delivered to LA over a newly constructed 115kV transmission line. The 200 kilowatts generated by Unit 1 were the first commercial kilowatts generated by the Los Angeles Bureau of Power and Light (LABPL).
