Photo of the support or foundation for the stage for the Deepest Valley Theatre in the Alabama Hills.
Typewritten caption on a half sheet of paper affixed to reverse: From Curtis Phillips. This view was taken when the platform was being installed for the first performance at Deepest Valley Theatre. The enormous monolithic rocks on the sky line have become a sort of trade mark for the location of the Deepest Valley Theatre. [The following is crossed out: According to Piute tradition, the Pot-sa-ga-wear or small people live in the rocks hereabouts and come out at moonrise. Unless disturbed by humans, the Pot-sa-ga-wea cavort through the night and return to the rocks again for the day hours.] The performances are managed so as to keep everything in the area completely natural, with the minimum of evidence of theatrical use.
Stamped in black ink on reverse with Curtis Phillips' information.
Written in pencil on reverse: #4
