Color postcard (circa 1960s) of the stone guardhouses that were located at the main entrance to Manzanar War Relocation Center. The front guardhouse was for U.S. Army Military Police. The second guardhouse was manned by the camp's internal security system.
"This stone house, which once guarded the entry to the Manzanar Relocation Camp, is one of the few structures remaining in an area where 10,000 Japanese Americans were held during World War II. The camp, between Lone Pine and Independence, Calif., represents and lamentable episode in American history in which the nation's own citizens were held captive."
