Black and white photo of a bunch of brush or weeds.
Handwritten in pencil on reverse: The "Hollow" once filled with verdure now dry and dead. Camp Independence when soldiers arrived the day they planted their flag was July 4th, 1867 [corect year is1862] hence the name Camp Independence. Later the town three miles south was named Independence.
