Black Canyon Gold Mining Company capital stock certificate no. 530 for 500 shares. It was purchased by J. E. Maglein at Bishop, CA on April 12, 1907. It is signed by A. S. Kilpatrick, President, and M. T. Stovall, Secretary.
The Black Canyon mine is located in the White Mountains of the Inyo National Forest at 5,876 foot elevation. Situated near Black Canyon Road, the mine is 7.9 miles from Poleta in Inyo County. According to the Western Investor’s Review, November, 1907, the company had opened a large ore chamber and had over 2,000 sq. ft.. of surface in this ore drift, all ore, and every bit carrying free gold in good quantity. Samples taken at random from the chamber assayed at over $100 per ton.Collection
