It says, "...as a young man, following uncle and some cousins Bells and an older brother, Ambrose, he rode transport teamed, driving the great many horse wagons, carrying ore, borax, supplies to the mines and towns and the narrow gauge railway. He studied law, eventually went into a lawyer's office in Bishop and passed his bar exams in c. 1895."Collection
