Description

Photo postcard of a glacier table, a very large boulder that resulted from a rock fall from a cliff onto the glacier, somewhere in the upper part of the Palisade Glacier cirque. A boulder, which is now at a lower elevation of the glacier, is on a pedestal of ice and insulates the underlying pedestal from the direct rays of the sun while the surrounding area of the glacier has melted away. There are seven people standing around the base. It is titled, "Near Glacier Lodge, Palisade Glacier, Big Pine Creek." Photographer was H. W. Mendenhall and this photo was given his ID #662.
