Description

Photograph of a team of fourteen mules or horses hauling what appears to be two wagons or flatbeds loaded with equipment. This was taken during the construction of the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Sierra Nevada mountain range in background, tents, canvas houses, corral, equipment, power or telephone lines all visible. A caption from the book "Mountains to Desert" gives the following information: Hauling equipment for construction of Los Angeles Aqueduct. Location, possibly east of Olancha. Image depicts a number of key features characteristic of Aqueduct Construction Camps: the horse corral, the portable bunk houses mounted on wagons and wagons, and equipment piled up.
