Watercolor painting by Kango Takamura. It is one of twelve in a collection titled, "Early Days of Manzanar School, Fall 1942" that was presented to Dr. Genevieve Carter, Superintendent of Education at Manzanar War Relocation Center. This painting does not have a caption. It shows students in a classroom with a Caucasian teacher standing in front. The vantage point is taken from a seat at the back of the room looking forward, as if the viewer was a student.
