Photo of a man mounted on a white horse. There appears to be a cleared field behind him.
Written in pencil on reverse: Inyokern. J. D. [Callaway] on Jim.
Typewritten on reverse: Remember that stought [stout] horse John rode. This was one winter day after a rain, when they would bring the outside cattle back in. John still keeps a good looking hat just like this one.
Note on archival envelope says the caption of these photos in the original album was "1916 Inyokern. When the weather was cool in winter and the cattle didn't all come in for water, J. D. would ride Jim and make a wide circle after each rain to pick up the tracks of strays and bring them in."Collection
