Fred Burkhard's mother and father were one of the oldest families in Lone Pine. They were at Lone Pine at the time of the 1872 earthquake. Fred Burkhardt went to Aurora at the time of the gold rush at Aurora and opened a jeweler's shop. Ida Dearborn, born in 1866 in Aurora, and him were married in Aurora in 1882. They had three sons born in Aurora: Fred Burkhard, Jr. in 1882, Henry Burkhardt in 1884, and Oscar Burkhardt in 1886. They moved to Lone Pine in 1889.Collection
