There are appealing illustrations of the wilderness and specific information and instructions regarding the wilderness. Dustjacket is forest green with the title in white letters near top. A free form circle in lower half of page has an image of a fully packed burro facing a person who is pulling on a rope attached to the burro. At the very bottom in green letter with white background is "How to get along on wilderness trails (chiefly in the West)".
