Description

Acrylic framed ceramic disk (9.5" diameter) mounted on larger imprinted square of clay, which is mounted on a grey linen mount board (about 2" of grey board is visible). Disk is etched and painted with a scene including a watch tower, row of barracks, and snow covered mountains. Actual barbed wire circles the disk and both are placed on top of a imprinted clay square. There are numerous words imprinted in the clay square, ending at the bottom with "Manzanar California." Written on reverse: By Mary Ichino, 9/5/87. Sticker affixed to side: Ichino, $250.00. Printed label says: Jon Standley based this drawing on the events depicted in the book "Farewell to Manzanar" by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston.
