This book is the story of Harris Newmark, patriarch of one of the founding families of Los Angeles, California, which includes tracing his emigration from Germany in the early 1850's through his arrival in New York City, his journey west and finally, his years settling in southern California. 9 1/8" high x 6 1/2" wide x 2 1/8" deep; hardcover in red cloth with faded gold lettering of title located near top on the spin with the publisher's name in faded gold near bottom of spin. Front and backs are without words or embellishment. No dust cover. Inside on front endsheet in upper right corner written in pencil is "acct of print - 42.50 (best edition)".
