Description

Mounted photo of the private mining camp of Millspaugh. Someone has erroneously labeled it in blue ink across the bottom, "Cyrus and Mamie Reynold mine, Fish Lake Valley, Nevada." It shows a man and woman (and dog) standing on the front porch of the Post Office with a vehicle parked in front. A second building is to the right, and on the left hidden behind a yucca tree is a white tent-like building. This is the same image as 1975.17.4, which has the following information: Millspaugh, Calif. Spring 1910. Al Millspaugh--"Van" red Irish setter--Jessie N. Fowzer. Mitchell car, 1908 "run about," second car in So. Inyo Co. Store-P.O. [post office], assay office. Locust trees from slips from Lone Pine 1904, guest tent, at back of store canyon goes up 1/2 mile--[illegible--forks?] and ends head of Shepherd's Canyon--road down to Panamint Valley--Ballarat built by John Shepherd 1876-7. Photos by Gus Heilzig [Haelsig], Brown, Calif., store and post office.
