A216.1Description
Sepia toned mounted photo of men loading silage into a stone silo on the W. D. Roberts Ranch in Round Valley. The silo was built of blocks of tuff quarried in the nearby volcanic tablelands, and was reportedly the first silo built on the Pacific Coast. The silo was still there in 1971, but was destroyed by LADWP in the 1980s after sustaining damage during an earthquake. In the photo are horses, children, equipment, a huge pile of hay, wagons, an outbuilding, and a ladder.
