Description

Mounted near full length portrait of Jack Gunn. The photographer was Theo. C. Marceau of San Francisco. The mount also says "Paris Panel." A paper label affixed to bottom of the image says: Jack Gunn, husband of Eva Lee Shepherd, and father of Helen Gunn. Owned the Minnietta in the Argus Range. Written in pencil on reverse: Jack Gunn. An old interpretative label says: John Jacob (Jack) Gunn, 1845-1918. Resident of Panamint City during the height of its life as a great mining city. Also of Bodie, 1879-1881. Owner of the Minnietta Mine in the Panamint Valley 1883-1918. During that time he took out two million dollars gross. Lived at Independence too. The rosewood music box at the museum is from the Jack Gunn family.
