B & W digital scan of LADWP Employee standing on LA Aqueduct Concrete Pipe (Siphon), possibly the Antelope Valley or Whitney Canyon Siphon. There were 11 concrete pipes on the LA Aqueduct system all of which were 10' in diameter and capable of handling head pressures of 40 to 75' The reason for building concrete pipes was that they were estimated to be cheaper and better for heads less than 75'. The Concrete Pipes were buried in trenches and covered with soil. -from LA Aqueduct Construction, Final Report, Construction of Siphons, pg. 209.Collection
