Description

Copy of a photo of a man with a saddled mule or burro next to a camp (tent and stone wall). Handwritten in blue ink on reverse: "Indian George" Hanson (Panamint George) 1910. Nadeau's old stone corral on Darwin road below Tennessee Springs. Roberta Starry, Randsburg, had these made up and sent me--films and pictures I sent her of our Indians. For the E.C. Museum to keep! Indian name "Bah-Vanda-Sava-Kee" = "Boy who ran away." This photo was included with manuscript 1955.912.41a and is mentioned in manuscript 1995.912.25b, in which Elizabeth Mecham writes of this photo: I had sent films to Roberta Starry--Randsburg author--she was writing of the Panamint Indians also back in 1964 and she had these 2 pictures enlarged for me--they are rare and the one of George with his burro and camp is fine of him 1910 and I feel the museum should have them with others enclosed.
