The inaugural issue of Ebell Magazine, Volume 1, Number 1 published in October 1927. Content includes a greeting from President Mrs. William Read with her portrait and articles on the new building, the former 1719 South Figueroa location, the International Ball to honor the Consular Corps, the Rest Cottage, the Musicale Tea, performances by the Tandler Ensemble and Hedwiga Reicher, guest speakers Edwin Ware Hullinger and Matthew Sterling, and the World Committee on Peace Through Education. The Ebell Juniors section features photos of Miss Margaret W. Ross and Mr. Leo Sansiper. The issue also includes October Programs, Departments, and an announcement of member Mrs. James Bert Stearns's appointment to the State Board of Education. Volume One, Number 1 is the first iteration of the "Ebell" publication in a magazine format. The previous issues from 1903 to 1927 were printed as small pamphlets called Bulletins. The Ebell Magazines ran from October 1927 to December 1934. In January 1935, the Ebell returned to the condensed Bulletin format.
Masthead reads: "Ebell is the official publication of The Ebell of Los Angeles and is published monthly by the publication division of Hal Horne and Company of Los Angeles, Calif.
