Scope and Content

The Ebell Magazine, Volume 1, Number 7 published in April 1928. Contents include frontispiece of Mrs. Charles Egleston Crary, the President's Paragraphs by Mrs. William Read, guest speaker Dr. Karl T. Waugh by Mrs. Edgar S. Stanley, "The Human Characteristics of Words" by Mrs. J. Elbert Harshman, and Florence M. Irish (Mrs. Leiland Atherton Irish), member and Hollywood Bowl General Chairman with her portrait. A list of donors to the Chair-Fund and portraits of Mrs. Alfred W. Rea and Mrs. Juan Baptista Martino also appear in the issue along with Monday Programs, Departments, Social Welfare Activities, Ebell Juniors, The Book Page, In the Galeria, Selected Schools, the Club Calendar, Applications for Memberships, and Directory of Advertisers. Photos and advertisements appear throughout the magazine.

Context

The Ebell Magazine ran from October 1927 to December 1934. Previous issues of the Ebell from 1903 to 1927 were printed as small pamphlets called Bulletins. In January 1935, the Ebell returned to the condensed Bulletin format.
