Scope and Content

The inaugural issue of Ebell Magazine, Volume 1, Number 1 published in October 1927.

Context

Volume One, Number 1 is the first iteration of the "Ebell" publication in a magazine format. The previous issues from 1903 to 1927 were printed as small pamphlets called Bulletins. The Ebell Magazines ran from October 1927 to December 1934. In January 1935, the Ebell returned to the condensed Bulletin format. Masthead reads: "Ebell is the official publication of The Ebell of Los Angeles and is published monthly by the publication division of Hal Horne and Company of Los Angeles, Calif. Editorial and Business offices, 204 Pacific National Bank Bldg., Los Angeles, Calif. EBELL is restricted to members of The Ebell of Los Angeles and is not for sale at news stands."
