Photo negative, Mary L. Jobe (1878-1966) and her husband Carl Akeley (1864-1926) inside their home, c. 1925. Carl Akeley was an explorer, conservationist, taxidermist and sculptor focused on the Belgian Congo (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). Note the water buffalo head mounted on the wall, the sculpted gorilla face in Carl's hands and the elephant foot on the floor.
