*Affidavit, testimony that Caleb Burrows is an owner of the sloop Zebe Ann in partnership with Hubbard H. Burrows, John Packer and Codding (?) Packer, all of Groton, June 1, 1824. The Zebe Ann was built in Groton in 1816.
*Letter to Julia Ann Burrows from her brother, Joshua Leeds, August 23, 1830:
"Dear Sister,
I now take the opportunity to write to you to inform you of my situation. I left New Orleans four months ago where I saw a number of our relations, which I suppose that you have heard from me before now, but now I will inform you that I went from there to Liverpool and from there to Portland in the State of Maine and my intention was to come home, but I am very sorry to inform you that I fell from aloft, broke my right leg and I'm now in the hospital in Portland and it is hard to say when I get well, but I want you to send an answer back as quick as possible to let me know how you and all the family is and be very careful and direct your letter to William Leeds or I never shall get it for I lost my protection that uncle William got for me New Orleans and I was forced to get another in a different name. You must excuse my bad writing for I am in such pain that I can't write. I have no more to add at present but subscribe myself your affectionate brother till death.

Admin or Biographical History: Julia Ann Leeds was born in Ledyard in 1800, the daughter of Joshua and Peace Leeds. She married Caleb Burrows in Groton on June 10, 1821.

On his last voyage, his vessel was caught in a severe storm in which a number of vessels were lost, on one of them was his brother, Stephen. Caleb succeeded in weathering the storm and brought his vessel back to home port. After this he purcahsed a farm in Ledyard, where he lived for many years." (Excerpt from the "Burrows Genealogy"). Julia and Caleb died in 1883 and 1874 respectively. They are buried together at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.
