Sepia photograph of the George Washington Bicentennial marker formerly located at the intersection of Route 117 and Candlewood Road. The marker was erected by the Anna Warner Bailey Chapter of the D.A.R. to commemorate the old Boston Post Road traveled by George Washington in 1756. The marker was removed in 1985 to accomodate a road widening project for Route 117 mandated by the CT D.O.T.
