Sepia photograph of crew on top of a submarine identified as the German submarine U-111, 1920s. The SM U-111 was 1 of 329 submarines that served in the Imperial German Navy during WWI. She was surrendered in England following the Armistice, sailed to the U.S. in April 1919 and sunk off the coast of Virginia in August 1922.Collection
