Photo negatives (2), views of the sidewheel steamer JOHN H. STARIN wrecked at the Bridgeport Breakwater, February 17, 1909. The JOHN H. STARIN was named for John Henry Starin, a railroad and steamship magnate who operated out of New York, but was also associated with the Palmer Shipyard in Noank (where many of his vessels were built or repaired). One of these photographs was used in a column by Carol Kimball titled "Magnate John H. Starin and His Namesakes," that was published by The Day on March 20, 1986.Collection
