Description

Photo negatives (5), views of the steel hulled screw steamer MAINE run aground at Execution Rocks, NY, February 4, 1920. The MAINE originally sailed out of Stonington with the Providence & Stonington Steamship Line. The vessel was forced onto the reef by the Execution Rocks Lighthouse by an ice floe during a severe winter storm. The T.A. Scott Co. of New London was responsible for salvaging her cargo.
