This Excelsior "Modell A.F.L.A." was produced for the "die Österreichische Sprechmaschinen Industrie".
Note the two limits of the speed scale – 160rpm, the „standardized“ speed of pre-recorded cylinders ( after 1902), and 100rpm, which would have been best suited to recording dictation in a business setting, or for speech. Furthermore, there is a precise scale, with pointer, that corresponds to the available space on the cylinder. There is also a belt guard, a highly unusual feature.
