Camel's Hump - Twilight (c. 1888-1896)

Twilight Landscape with a Horse: The painting shows a Vermont landscape at twilight, with the scene tinted slightly blue in the evening lighting. In the foreground of the painting is a white horse, grazing on some grass. Behind the horse is a small clearing and a valley. In the distance are the outlines of blue mountains, with Camel's Hump on the left. The sky appears bright, illuminated by a crescent moon. The painting is signed "E.M. Taber" in the lower-left corner.

Note

"Camel's Hump - Twilight", like many of E.M. Taber's paintings, was never finished before his death in 1896. "Camel's Hump - Twilight" was displayed posthumously at the St. Botolph Club in Boston in 1898 and at the Art Students League of New York in 1901, as part of two separate memorial exhibitions.
