Historical Note

Note

Robert Taber was a stage actor in the late 19th century and was in multiple performances of "Romeo and Juliet". This drawing was identified as Robert Taber in Romeo costume by comparison to the drawing in Harvard's collection (https://hvrd.art/o/307822). Based on theatre cabinet cards of Robert Taber dressed as Romeo, these drawings were presumably done based on his 1893 performance in "Romeo and Juliet".
