Sintram and Audrey (c.1894)

Sketch of Two Horse Heads: A graphite sketch of two horse heads in profile, with black ink added for some outlining. The horse head at the top of the page shows a horse with a shorter mane. Under that horse is the name "Sintram", written in pencil. The second horse head is drawn below the first. The second horse has a longer muzzle than the first and the name "Audrey" is written below it.

General Notes

Note

In "Stowe Notes" (1913), E.M. Taber writes about Sintram and Audrey in a letter to his mother. "I go regularly every day to have a little fighting game with Sintram. Audrey is growing tamer and more gentle all the time. She begins to show white hairs, as if a star were forming in the middle of her forehead [...]" (May 19, 1894 Letter). This letter was presumably around the time he sketched the two horses.
