Note

The title of this drawing is given in "Stowe Notes" (1913).

Note

There is writing on the back of the mounting which appears to be a review of the drawing. Some of it is difficult to decipher, but it reads: "Yes, this is in fact the rarest and most powerful of all the horse work. The head is of course [a little] small and no great thing in itself but it ____ its part of a singularly rare and clearly given movement throughout." It is signed "AHT", for Abbott H. Thayer. It seems that Thayer was consulted on which of E.M. Taber's drawings should be included in 'Stowe Notes'.
