Context

Model created for Archaeology Course: Introduction to Archeology, under Professor Dianna Stifter. Ascribed to the Puebloan culture of North America, it is suggested that kivas are used for both secular and ceremonial purposes. Kivas can be large or small, or built in the shape of an attached tower. They generally have a "sipapu", a large circular pit in the floor that represents the underworld.
