A ceramic hakata urasaki doll (called Hakata Ningyo in Japanese) of an old man and woman sitting on an orange-red base. They are wearing ceremonial clothing of black robes, that have white crests near the shoulders and on the back. The man has light brown clothing on under his black robe and is holding a folded-up fan and an apple in his hands. They are looking at a rice cake that has a lobster on the side and a golden fan on top, as well as a Japanese flag and decorated with cherry blossoms. At the base of the rice cake and the top is some greenery.Context

Dirt and dust in both figures' laps and around the back of the necks. The woman has some white abrasions on the lower left of her kimono sleeve and the decorative fan in the front is loose and can be removed. The woman also has a patch of paint worn away on the top of her head. The tag around the man's neck has a rip on the front.
