This Heisler engine was retired at the time of this photo taken on a storage track in 1941. Its most active years were between 1900 to 1907. Heisler # 1014 arrived by flatcar in Folsom and taken by team and wagon to the railhead at Pino Grande. It was the second engine operated by American River Land & Lumber Co. (the #1 engine was the Porter #1389), so during its early years had the number '2' on its front number plate. In 1900, when El Dorado Lumber Co. took over operations and sold the Porter, Heisler #1014 was redesignated at engine #1. In 1913, after additional Shay engines were brought in, the Heisler was switched to track-laying operations. In 1930, she went into permanent retirement and was eventually cut up for scrap in 1942.Lexicon
