Note from curator Jeff Behary: I purchased this machine on Ebay and it arrived completely empty! After messaging the seller, he admitted he removed the parts for fear of someone getting electrocuted. I asked if he still had them, and he did...so I had to reassemble it all in order to get it working again. It took many days but is now fully-functioning! The unit has a multi-tapped high voltage capacitor that was typically sold for wireless telegraphy, a dual silver-contact spark gap, and a custom transformer and Tesla Coil of unique Campbell construction. Campbell Electric was originally Campbell Brothers, formed by Fred Rupert Campbell and and Charles Edward Campbell. Eventually it was bought out by General Electric. The arrival photos of the machine and disassembled parts are shown on my patio and living room!Collection
