Original mica capacitor/condenser used in Kinraide Coil, ca. 06 December 1902Context
Found in original Kinraide Coil, padded with newspaper. Handwritten "30 sheets, OK on lamp". The reference relates to quality control in testing and manufacturing, the "lamp" was a simplified version of condenser discharge lamp also patented by Kinraide that used a similar high voltage transformer to the Kinraide Coil. The lamp circuit could be used for extended periods, so no doubt this was a way of ensuring the capacitor wouldn't burn out in use if installed into the Kinraide Coils.Collection
