Use
For measuring the invisible ultraviolet emission spectra used in gas discharge tubes, arc, spark, and flame spectroscopy.
Context
These instruments were used by curator Jeff Behary in US Patent 11,749,970 B2 to study the spark emission spectra of a variety of metal alloys. They were also used to study the historical spectra of ultraviolet lamps in the museum collection. A PDF of some of this research is included.
