Sperti SunlampContext
George Speri (17 January 1900, Covington, Kentucky – 29 April 1991, Cincinnati, Ohio) was an Italian-American who invented
Preparation H hemorrhoid medication. He also invented the Sperti Ultraviolet Lamp, Aspercreme for pain relief, and the KVa Power Meter. He also worked to enrich milk with Vitamin D using ultraviolet radiation. In the 1990s, curator Jeff Behary listed one of these lamps on Ebay as "quack sunlamp" and caught hell from one of his relatives. I had no idea he was such a prolific inventor back then, and meant no offense - I was simply using the keyword "quack" to attract the right audience. I've since learned some 30 years later how prolific and impressive Sperti's career really was.Collection
