August 26-29, 1965, was the Third Annual Heart City Rally at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen. The event was held in conjunction with the Mobile Home Show held at the Northside Gym in Elkhart. This aerial photograph of the fairgrounds shows the more than 600 campers reported to have been registered for the three-day program. Most of the units included travel trailers, truck-mounted campers, soft top campers, mobile homes, and tents. Registration began on a Thursday. The program included bus rides to the Mobile Home Show in Elkhart, teenage record hops, pancake breakfasts, a white elephant sale, horse shoe pitching, a chicken dinner, and an interdenominational service to conclude the rally on Sunday. According to organizers, record attendance was set for that year.
