Caption reads: One of Elmhurst's earlier mansions was owned by Lucian Hagans, a member of the United States Diplomatic Service. Situated on St. Charles rd., west of Prospect st., the home was the scene of many lavish gatherings in the 1870s and 80s. The then prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VII of England, was once a guest in the home. The Hagans estate even included a small race track for horses.
