on back: Entrance Gate to Byrd's Nest Estate St. Charles Road at the Foot of Cottage Hill Avenue After the World's Fair in 1893, Mr. Bryan brought two great white eagles from the manufacturer's building to surmount the gateposts of Byrd's nest, where for years they were one of Elmhurst's beauty spots. Through these gates came many notable visitors from all over the country and abroad.
